I am also owner/webmaster of www.saveadog.net & the volunteer webmaster for Animal Angels, a sanctuary for abused, abandoned or otherwise homeless dogs. Carole Sanders, the President & Director, along with a handful of dedicated volunteers, has created a "last hope safety net" into which many a lucky dog has landed. They come in all sizes & colors, from all sorts of backgrounds, but they all have one thing in common - they are in need of another chance at the life every companion animal deserves. Some have come to us because their guardians have died & there was no extended family to care for them. Others have been rescued from abusive homes by friends or neighbors - some have been rescued from animal control facilities as just too good an animal to destroy. Most have come to us by being found on the side of the road where they had been dumped - left to fend for themselves against the elements & the dangers that usually result in road kill - sitting faithfully at the spot where their people left them, waiting for them to return, until hunger & thirst drives them to seek food & shelter. The lucky ones end up here .. the others are the carnage you see on the side of the highway. I am an "outdoorsy" type of person. I enjoy gardening & yard work, feeding & watching the birds of the area as they frolic at the many feeders & birdbaths in the yard. We also have several squirrels that like to visit our backyard & the occasional feral cat that stops by for a refresher at the fountain. They are all safe here in our "green zone". My free time is often spent with a cup of coffee & a digital camera in the company of the critters. |

My
friends call me Sue. I am the XYL of a long-time HAM,
WB5KHC. After many years of being
inactive, he dusted off his key, put up a couple of antennas and
soon had me studying for my ticket. It took me almost a
year but I have passed the exam for EXTRA Class operator. Now we
spend many weekends enjoying our joint hobby.
